Desert Shadows

Hide.
Pull veils of sand from the land
to wreathe your silent form.

It didnt work.
Your shadow is stark against the ground,
a dark blot,
like the pupil of an eye.

Yet you are oddly transparent,
a wraith juxtaposed
in front of the burning slope.

You sit with the desert,
alone,
but for the wind that whispers
lilting ululations
to your pink curled ear.
